Thyroid Diseases?

Thyroid Diseases -Bloods4you

The Thyroid is a small, butterfly shaped gland, with two lobes that sit either side of our windpipe.

Our thyroid gland produces hormones, hormones are chemicals that act as our body's messengers, and travels through our blood, and then controls or regulates our bodies metabolism system (uses of energy)

When Thyroid Antibodies block with this process, it could lead to long term conditions and disorders, with having an under active Thyroid (not enough thyroid hormones) or overactive Thyroid (too much thyroid hormones)

Having a Thyroid Antibodies Blood Test is to help diagnose an autoimmune Thyroid disease or to separate it from forms of having Thyroiditis and Thyroid disease.

Thyroid function tests (TFTs) are a group of tests requested to help check how the thyroid gland is working, to diagnose thyroid gland disorders and to monitor the response of thyroid disorders to treatment. TFTs include measuring the amount of the thyroid hormones, Thyroxine (T4) or Tri-iodothyronine (T3) and/or the pituitary hormone, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in your blood.
